Ecology ofNepenthes clipeataon Gunung Kelam, Indonesian Borneo

چکیده
Background Nepenthes clipeata is a Critically Endangered plant species with the population at its only location in wild, Gunung (Mount) Kelam Kalimantan, Indonesia, under threat – nutrient relationships have not been studied.Aims To improve understanding of autecology N. by assessing current and providing information on mineral relationships. Methods A survey was undertaken 2019 when numbers habitat preferences were recorded. Nutrient concentrations soil, leaves pitcher fluid analysed compared those other species. Results Eighteen individuals found (only one which female). Seven hybrids two these observed. Although foliar (‘ionome’) appeared distinct from that species, having greater concentrations, particularly nitrogen, potassium calcium, nitrogen limitation still prevalent. Conclusions persists wild but very low numbers, indicating conservation actions are required. Along Nepenthes, it limited soil although has ionome derived high concentrations.

Plasmodium knowlesi in Human, Indonesian Borneo
Plasmodium knowlesi is now established as the fifth Plasmodium species to cause malaria in humans. We describe a case of P. knowlesi infection acquired in Indonesian Borneo that was imported into Australia. Clinicians need to consider this diagnosis in a patient who has acquired malaria in forest areas of Southeast Asia.
متن کاملA new species of Leptolalax (Anura: Megophryidae) from Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak, East Malaysia (Borneo).
We describe a new species of Leptolalax from Gunung Mulu National Park in eastern Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. The new species had been assigned to Leptolalax dringi and Leptolalax gracilis in the past. It is shown to differ from both these species and from all other species of the genus by a unique combination of morphological characters including large body size, rounded snout, interorbital dis...
متن کاملReconciling Forest Conservation and Logging in Indonesian Borneo
Combining protected areas with natural forest timber concessions may sustain larger forest landscapes than is possible via protected areas alone. However, the role of timber concessions in maintaining natural forest remains poorly characterized. An estimated 57% (303,525 km²) of Kalimantan's land area (532,100 km²) was covered by natural forest in 2000. About 14,212 km² (4.7%) had been cleared ...
متن کاملHuman-sun bear conflicts in East Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo
Interviews with farmers (1998-2000) in 5 communities along the edge of the Sungai Wain Protection Forest, East Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo, indicated that crop damage caused by sun bears (Helarctos malayanus) was higher than normal following the 1997-98 El Nifno Southern Oscillation Event. Widespread drought and forest fires reduced habitat and fruit availability for sun bears on the islands ...
متن کاملLowland forest loss in protected areas of Indonesian Borneo.
The ecology of Bornean rainforests is driven by El Niño-induced droughts that trigger synchronous fruiting among trees and bursts of faunal reproduction that sustain vertebrate populations. However, many of these species- and carbon-rich ecosystems have been destroyed by logging and conversion, which increasingly threaten protected areas. Our satellite, Geographic Information System, and field-...
